What You Need to Know About Your Nissan Key Fob
So you've lost your Nissan key fob or the device stopped functioning. Before you contact the dealership or panic, retrace your steps to determine the exact location you last used it.
Fortunately, it's easy to replace the battery on your nissan key fob. You'll soon be able to get the hang out of it.
Smart Keys
The key fob that was included with the key fob that came with your Nissan is a vital component of the car's advanced keyless entry system. It connects to the vehicle's electronic system to open doors or start the engine and it has a convenient design that's easy to keep on hand. A key fob also offers convenience features, such as locking out protection that ensures you won't wander out of your vehicle with keys inside.
Contrary to earlier models of key fobs that required you to put the key in an ignition slot to gain access to your vehicle's onboard systems, smart keys function wirelessly. When you get close to the vehicle the Nissan senses the Intelligent Key fob's proximity to it and activates its internal functions. This can include opening or locking the doors, raising and lowering the tailgate, and even starting the engine.
Certain smart key models come with a hidden metal key to allow valet parking. This key can be pulled out from an opening on the back of the Smart Key fob to secure the trunk or glove box prior to handing it over to the valet. The Smart Key fob has a charging pocket that can be used to charge the battery even when it is not in use.
If your Nissan's Intelligent Key fob isn't working as it should, you may have to replace the batteries. Most fobs use CR2025 or CR2032 batteries. Instructions to change the batteries are available in the owner's manual.
Intelligent Key Fob
With a Nissan Intelligent Key Fob, you can unlock your car doors and start its engine with a push of a button. It also allows you to activate an array of presets that meet your needs, like setting the mirrors and seats to maximize comfort. You can also control the music through your smartphone so that you don't need to leave your car.
Intelligent Key Fobs are equipped with an antenna built-in that sends an alert to your car when you touch a button or move towards it. Once your vehicle is notified, it will activate the system, unlocking or locking doors, launching the engine, and also opening the trunk. To test the fob you must get away from your car and press on the buttons. If the lights flash or the horn sounds sound, you have successfully programmed the Intelligent Key Fob.
Batteries are required for the operation of Intelligent Key Fobs. If yours runs out and you need to replace it, our Parts Department can help you to replace it quickly and efficiently. To do this, first remove the hidden key from your key fob. Then, open its battery compartment. Replace the battery with a brand new one after taking out the old one. Make sure the positive side of the new battery is facing the same direction as the original one did. Close the battery compartment, and then, after that, return the key back to its hidden position within the case.
Remote Start
Nissan remote start enables drivers to heat or cool their vehicles from outside, insofar as they're within the operating range. The ignition of the car is activated when the driver presses a button on the key fob or smartphone app. Remote start systems can also activate the climate control so that the driver can select their preferred temperature. Some systems include two-way communication that lets the driver know what's happening inside their vehicle.
Battery power is the most frequent reason for your remote start not working. The key fob is powered by a small battery which can be replaced. It lasts for about two years. The battery can be replaced easily, however you will have to be aware of where the hidden key is on your Intelligent Key Fob and how to open the battery compartment.
To do this switch your fob on its side and press the hidden key release latch on the back of the key pad. Once the keypad has been opened, remove the old batteries and replace them with fresh ones. Make sure that your new battery is the same dimensions and configuration of the old one. Be nissan replacement keys to reinstall the key that was hidden and rebuild the key fob properly before closing the outer case. Lockout Protection

Lockout protection prevents locks that are caused by impedance problems. A special module inside the power control unit is able to monitor the activity of the impedance relay and disables the output. This option is only available to vehicles with the Smart Key system or through the vehicle personalization menu.
Many serious accidents have occurred because a machine was turned on when it should have been shut down to repair or maintenance. These incidents are usually caused by stored energy that isn't properly released. Lock-out-tag-out (LOTO) which makes sure that machines remain off until an authorized person releases them, helps prevent these incidents.
The LOTO system is comprised of a number of locks, tags, and other devices that isolate, secure the machine from an electrical source. All "affected" and "authorized" personnel must be educated on the use of these lockout/tag-out devices. These devices include, but aren't restricted to chains, locks and padlocks. Each device is unique and labelled, including the date and the time it was put in use along with the name and address of the person authorized, and the purpose of the lockout or tagout (repairs maintenance, repairs and so on.). It must be stated clearly that these devices are not able to be removed until a complete LOTO procedure has been followed.
